UAB “Lavisos LEZ terminalas” was founded in 2006, at the Kaunas free economic zone. The company belongs to UAB “Lavisos koncernas” company group, one of the market leaders in this field, which since 1995 provides a diverse range of logistics services. The company’s strategy is to provide a range of storageand logistics services, third-party logistics 3PL services;warehouse modernization and automation has contributed to the successful development of services and an increase in turnover. The choice to expand the logistics business in Kaunas LEZ was made due to tax incentives to companies atthe area, strategically convenient geographical location, additional services.
“Lavisos LEZ terminalas” – a modern, latest technology-equipped, 6 thousands q. m area warehouse. An investment of about 12 million Litas was required for building this logistics centre with an A type customs warehouse, import and export terminal. It employs customs agents, the storage works are particularly rapid, as well as cargo marking, distribution and reloading. It is a very effective warehouse for its size, where the most modern loading equipment is going to used. The company has purchased new high-speed, high-workload BT loaders, which in the 12 meter-high warehouse run through very narrow corridors at high speed. This equipment, weighing about 7 t, is economical, using the loaders kinetic energy to recharge batteries.
WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT
All work processes in this warehouse is managed by the warehouse management system “Vision 5”, installed by the company “Equinox Europe”The system,establishing assignments for operators is based on radio terminals, which employees use as a lodestar – they indicate the correct location of goods and here to place them. A modern management system arranges and contributes work, so that the 8 warehouse operators and two leaders work in a very coordinated manner, the work is done quickly and efficiently, storage costs are reduced, order fulfilment accuracy and speed is increased. The automated control system helps avoid the human error factor, cargo confusion, and finds goods easily. Since information is stored on the system, the clients know the number and type of cargo in the warehouse, and can keep track of all the operations performed.
